A NEW METHOD
How is
Somatic Eating® different?
Most food and body image recovery trainings focus on cognitive approaches.
What they miss is that food and body image behaviors tell a somatic, trauma, and nervous system story.
You’ll learn to speak the language of the body and teach your clients how to do the same so they can attune to their physical and emotional hungers and restore trust with their body to feel safe, secure, and satiated.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Somatic Approach
Somatic Eating® will provide you with the resources to support your clients in understanding food and body image impulses as their body’s way of communicating unmet needs, unresolved trauma, nervous system dysregulation, and how to support the body in food and non-food ways.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
Resources & Support
Somatic Eating® teaches you to see the wisdom in food behaviors.
WHAT's MISSING?
The body is missing
in most recovery modalities.
Yet few trainings and programs teach you how understand what your client’s body is trying to tell them (and you!).
Somatic Eating begins with the body as the foundation.
If you've tried to habituate your clients to foods they've labeled as "bad," only to find them binge eating even more...
If you've encouraged clients to stop dieting, only to watch them feel more out of control around food...
If you've taught intuitive eating principles, only to discover that your clients struggle to access hunger, fullness, and satiation cues...
If you've challenged food rules, only to watch your clients create new rules to feel in control...
If you've helped clients understand the root causes of their food and eating behaviors, only to find that insight alone didn't create lasting change...
If you've taught mindfulness with food, only to discover that slowing down with food felt overwhelming rather than supportive...
If you've worked to improve body image, only to find body criticism returns loudly when stress, overwhelm, or dysregulation increases...
If you've encouraged clients to trust their bodies, only to realize their bodies don't yet feel safe enough to trust...
You may be missing the body.

BODY-BASED RECOVERY
Why a somatic approach to food recovery matters
Most approaches to food and body image recovery work with the thoughts that emerge from a lack of safety in the body — without ever addressing the underlying trauma response that generates those thoughts.
Healing past trauma and fostering greater nervous system capacity can increase a person’s ability to emotionally regulate — creating the capacity to fully inhabit their body so that food can be released from the role of safety producer.
Somatic means “relating to the body.” Here’s what that looks like in terms of food.
SOMATIC REMINDER #1
Food behaviors are happening in the body.
Not in the mind — in the felt, physical body.
SOMATIC REMINDER #2
Body image struggles are a response to the felt sense of the body.
They are somatic experiences, not just cognitive ones.
SOMATIC REMINDER #3
A person’s nervous system sets the table for every meal.
Regulation precedes nourishment.
THE SOMATIC KEY
Therapeutic interventions must prioritize
restoring bodily safety
over eliminating the food struggle.
Food is serving as a placeholder.
Without first cultivating non-food sources of safety, clients may feel anxious, creating space for those food coping mechanisms to return.

Coach Certification Training is right for you if:
- You’re already a coach, counselor, or therapist.
- You’re currently working with clients in food and body image recovery.
- You’ve been in the field for a while and you feel like something is missing. Your approaches don’t seem to make a difference and you are tired of seeing your clients stuck and struggling.
- You want to be able to discuss food and body image concerns with your clients.
FOR EVERY BODY
Every client you work with has a relationship with food.
Even if you don’t focus on food or body image with your clients, being adept at speaking about food and food interactions can be a resource, no matter what your clients are working on.
BODY-BASED RECOVERY
Become an Attuned Somatic Practitioner
You’ve completed an immense amount of trainings, certifications, and educational experiences. You’re knowledgeable. You have a ton of therapeutic tools you draw from in every session.
Teaching a wide range of resources is wonderful — it gives your clients a sense of choice about how to support themselves in non-food ways. And yet.
What is often missing in long-term recovery isn’t another tool. It’s body-to-body attunement and coregulation — and almost no training teaches it.
What most trainings miss
No matter how many tools you offer, if your body isn’t present in the session — any resource you share can feel like a bandaid.
What this changes
The most powerful resource you have is yourself. Your body is the missing piece — and this training teaches you how to use it.
THE BOTTOM LINE
The most powerful resource you have is yourself.
The greater the compassion and curiosity you bring to your own body and history, the more deeply you’ll meet your clients in theirs.
If you’ve noticed:
Your clients
That no matter how much they understand intellectually, the body keeps responding the same way.
Your Toolkit
That you’ve tried every evidence-based approach — and there’s still a layer you can’t quite reach.
Your Instinct
That beneath the food concern is a story the body is holding — and you want to know how to listen for it.
The time is now.
Learn a new embodied way to work with yourself and your clients.
